What's the Skinny on Banner Student?
A
t ECU, Banner Student consists of two interrelated systems: Banner Self Service (SSB) and Internet Native Banner (INB). The Banner Self Service system is accessible through OneStop for students, faculty, advisors, and academic departmental staff. The Internet Native Banner system is the background database that drives Banner Self Service.
Banner Self Service (SSB)
Banner Self Service allows students, faculty, advisors, and staff to access registration, course offerings, student contacts, financial aid, and cashier information.
Access to Banner Self Service is always through the OneStop tools page. If you do not have access, e-mail Regis@ecu.edu for assistance.
Internet Native Banner (INB)
The INB system provides the user access to financial, human resources, admissions, course offerings, and student information depending on the user's job duties and responsibilities.
Internet Native Banner requires special security access to be able to view or modify information. Users access the system through a specific URL site and are required to enter a security password.
Banner Systems Training
Banner Training classes are offered each month to assist faculty and staff in each of the Banner systems. All classes are posted on OneStop under Faculty and Staff Training. Training inquires can be directed to Elizabeth Hand at hande@ecu.edu.
Banner Student System Tutorials
Easy-to-use Banner tutorials are available on the Office of the Registrar's Web site.

RefWorks Training
Joyner Library will hold training sessions for faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students interested in learning to use the citation database RefWorks.
RefWorks allows users to easily import citations from most of ECU's online databases and automatically generate bibliographies in MLA, APA, Chicago, or hundreds of other citation styles. RefWorks is web-based, so it can be used from any computer with an Internet connection and doesn't require locally installed software.
The sessions will include setting up and accessing an account, managing folders, importing citations, and automatically creating works-cited pages.
All sessions are in Joyner Library, Room 1020.
To register (faculty and staff):
1) Log into OneStop
2) Click the "Faculty and Staff Training " link under the "Employee"
category box.
3) Scroll down the page and click the "RefWorks" link
4) Click the "Add" radio button for the session you wish to attend.
To register (graduate and undergraduate students):
1) Send an email to sandersm@ecu.edu with the date you would like to attend.
