About the Office
The Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences Advising Center is dedicated to students intended to declare a major in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, and Psychology. The Center's focus is on developing academic success through assisting with course selection and helping students meet East Carolina University's degree requirements. This is achieved by assisting students in succeeding in their academic, career, and personal goals.
Philosophy
The Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences Advising Center is committed to the growth and development of individual students and to the belief that, given assistance, students can control their own academic success and achieve their academic goals. Our objectives are to:

Assist students in developing decision-making skills by providing accurate information about requirements for graduation and university policies and procedures.

Provide effective academic advising for students with intended majors in the College of Arts and Sciences to increase retention and graduation rates.

Refer students to appropriate campus resources.

Assist students in major and career exploration to encourage them to declare their major upon completion of the general education requirements.
