The East Carolina University College of Allied Health Sciences Diversity Committee was convened in October 1999. It serves as a central repository of information and resource for initiatives and projects toward enhancing diversity among the CAHS faculty, staff and students.

Social Work Practice with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Scholarship
Four yearly scholarships are available for students who pursue the MSW with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certificate.

T. L. McClellan Memorial Scholarship
An academic scholarship for full-time students in rehabilitation sponsored by the North Carolina Rehabilitation Association. Application deadlines are generally in July or August.

Jackie Robinson Foundation
The award: up to $6000 annually.

Ron Brown Scholarships
The award: $10,000 for 20-30 students for any academic discipline.

Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC Scholarships)
Particularly for individuals intending to study science, engineering, business, political science, psychology, geography, foreign studies, and foreign language. Individual must be a high school senior or graduate who has not completed any full-time college work. Also, must be a US citizen between 17-27 with a GPA of 2.5 or above, in the top 40% of their class, and complete the applicant fitness test. Individual can not be a single parent.

Hispanic College Fund Scholarships
List several scholarship opportunities.

Kodak Scholarships
The award: varying amounts to $5,000 for students of cinematography.

National Association of Black Journalists
Majoring in journalism-print, photography, radio and television-or planning a career in one of those fields.
Award: $2,500
Deadline: March 31

NACME Scholarship
The award: up to $20,000 for high school and engineering students.

National Society of Black Engineers
Lists several scholarship options.

Xerox Technology Minority Scholarship
Award: up to $4,000
Deadline: September 16

Lists minority and women doctoral students who have recently received or will soon receive their doctoral degree from two hundred major research universities in the United States. It can be purchased as a two-volume set or by Department.

National Society of Allied Health: NSAH Newsletter Editor - Dr. Peggy Valentine Associate Dean for Allied Health, College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health, Howard University, 2139 Georgia Ave., NW Suite 1C, Washington, DC 20001, (202) 806-4960.

The National Society of Allied Health (NSAH) was created 26 years ago as an advocacy group for the advancement of health issues in the African American community and disadvantaged populations. They publish a quarterly newsletter that advertises faculty positions. They also have an annual meeting, which is an excellent way to connect and network with minority faculty in Allied Health. Information about the conference can be obtained from the above address.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

NHLBI Mentored Minority Faculty Development Award

Although this is a previously funded grant, from it one can access the National Institute of Health website and search for other minority sponsored grant funding.
