Daniel W. Wong, PhD. CRC
Daniel W. Wong, Ph.D., is a Professor and Director of the Doctoral Program in the Department of Rehabilitation Studies at East Carolina University, North Carolina. Dr. Wong teaches graduate courses in vocational, educational, and psychosocial rehabilitation and specializes in rehabilitation research.
Dr. Wong has published more than 50 peer reviewed journal articles and numerous disability-rehabilitation policy position papers nationally and internationally.
Dr. Wong was the recipient of the 1991 Young Educator of the Year Award from the National Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE), 1992 Research Award from the American Counseling Association (ACA), and the 2004 Research Award 3rd Place from the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association. He has been a Principle Investigator and Project Director for various research and training grant projects including funding from The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA), Social Security Administration (SSA), the United Nations (UN) Voluntary Fund, and many other international development funding agencies.
Dr. Wong is a visiting professor at the Aerospace Medical Clinic of Peking University and the China Rehabilitation Research Center in Beijing, China. He is currently the International Editor for the Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice and he currently serves as consulting editor and reviewer for the American Counseling Association, Journal of Rehabilitation, Journal of Rehabilitation Education, and the Journal of Rehabilitation Administration. His was the editor of Disability International (1996-2002) and the Journal of Rehabilitation Administration (1997-2003).
His current research interests include societal and cultural attitude towards persons with disabilities, secondary disabling conditions, health disparities issues, disability and aging, computerized case simulation, computerized job-matching systems, and cultural diversity concerns with respect to the vocational rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
