July 2005-present: University of North Caroline, Chapel Hill: Surgical Critical Care Fellow
2000-June 2005: University of Tennessee, Memphis- General Surgery Residency.
Summer 1997: NIH Medical Student Research Fellow at the University of Tennessee, Memphis- Investigated the phosphorylation state of PKA dependent phosphorylation of rat ventricular yachts. This project was part of the lab’s overall study of the protective effects of prior myocardial infarctions in surviving subsequent myocardial infarctions.
1994-1996: Research Technologist in Department of Infectious Diseases at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital- Investigated the intracellular pharmacokinetics of several anti-reverse transcriptase HIV drugs in human leukocytes, both in vitro by primary culture and in vivo.
Summer 1993-1994: Howard Hughes Research Grant/Senior Honors Research Project at Rhodes College- Investigated the isolation and characterization of cellulases produced by Achlya ambisexualis. These proteins are believed to be involved in controlling the morphology of this water mold in various environs and involved in hyphen branching.
Summer 1992: PEW Consortium Grant at Washington University- Investigated the chemistry of 2,6-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl-phosphinidene, a theoretical free radical of phosphorous.
Summer 1991: Schering-Plough Grant at Rhodes College- Investigated the structures of some pent dentate copper (II) complexes.
