New Chief of Surgical Oncology
(Posted: 01/31/08) - Dr. Zervos joins ECU Physicians as Professor and Chief in the Division of Surgical Oncology at the Broody School of Medicine, and Associate Director of the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center. His clinical and basic science expertises are based in disorders of the liver, pancreas, stomach, esophagus, and gall bladder. He has published over 90 scholarly articles and has been invited as a guest lecturer in numerous national and international forums. Dr. Zervos assumed leadership of the Division of Surgical Oncology in August of 2007 and has begun a transformation of the clinically busy division to a fully developed academic unit encompassing basic science research, clinical care, and education.
Before joining the faculty of the Brody School of Medicine, Dr. Zervos served as the Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of surgical research at the University of South Florida, in Tampa, Florida. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics and a medical degree from the University of Michigan, where he also completed his surgical internship.
