Dr. Tara Jeffs' primary research areas include implementing assistive and emerging technologies in general and special education classrooms, integrating technology into teacher preparation, and universal design for learning. She is particularly interested in exploring, learning, and integrating both common and cutting edge assistive technologies in the home, school, community and workplace. As a result, new opportunities open up for individuals with disabilities to enable them to achieve their lifetime goals and ambitions. Her articles have appeared in Journal of Special Education Technology, Assistive Technology Outcomes and Benefits, and Computers in the Schools. An exciting aspect of her career is the collaboration with others to incorporate universal design for learning. She recently worked on a project with faculty in Curriculum and Instruction in making e-Learning more accessible. Other projects include technology integration in Early Childhood Education and using technology to build literacy skills. Dr. Jeffs is the Vice President of the Technology and Media Division of Council for Exceptional Children.
