Ms. Ruth Kilburn coordinates eight major federal grants that prepare undergraduate and graduate students to work with children and adolescents who have disabilities. Ms. Kilburn also directs the department's summer learning and afterschool programs in partnership with Pitt County Schools. The partnership programs provide practicum experiences for ECU student teachers pursuing special education and academically and intellectually gifted licensure, and also serve approximately 80 Pitt County children with exceptionalities. In addition, Ms. Kilburn coordinates other initiatives, projects and grants across program areas in the interest of special education teacher training.
