For more than 90 years now, the East Carolina University has maintained teacher preparation and development as a central focus. Today, ECU’s College of Education is the largest producer of educators in North Carolina. The College maintains a strong reputation for its professional development programs and for aggressively tackling teacher education issues.
One way the College of Education is working towards producing teachers is through the Wachovia Partnership East program. Last year, the number of students participating in the program continued to grow; further strengthening the consortium partnership between community college and public schools within the University’s service area. This partnership trains individuals to become teachers where they live and work.
The College of Education also offers opportunities beyond physical classroom settings through Distance Education (DE). Our credit hour production increased an additional 30% over last year, marking the fourth consecutive year of 30% growth in DE credit hours.
As a national leader in teacher preparation, the College of Education offers both undergraduate and graduate programs of study that incorporate state-of-the-art facilities; internship opportunities with established professionals; and a collaborative community of top-notch faculty members, alumni, school systems, and community partners.
