Ms. Judy Sawyer Harrison Judy Sawyer Harrison arrived at ECU in June 1971. She started in the Office of the Registrar as a clerk in the transcript office. She worked five years in this position and was then promoted to a Student Service Assistant in the Undergraduate Certification Office. In 1991, she was promoted to Supervisor of the Undergraduate Certification Office, which she held for 9 years. After 30 years of service she retired in December 2000. In February 2001, she was asked to come and work part-time in the Math Department as an Office Assistant. In May 2004, she was asked to work part time in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Life as a Office Assistant. She left this position in December 2004. In January 2005, she came to work with the advising team in the College of Health and Human Performance as Student Service Assistant.
Mrs. Harrison worked closely with students, faculty and staff for 34 years.. She saw many changes, such as, working with registration from cards and long lines to on-line registration and working with records that changed from quarter to semester. As supervisor of undergraduate certification office, she was responsible for making sure students preparing for graduation had met all of their academic requirements.
During her tenure at ECU, she attended seminars, institutes and training on campus and Pitt Community College to remain on the cutting edge of the newest technology needed for her work. She received the Chancellor’s Synergy Award prior to her retirement.
The experience Mrs. Harrison possesses is invaluable as she works as part of the team in the academic advising center.
