Using Outlook at Home for ECU E-mail

1. Access Outlook Mail settings via Start > Control Panel > Mail. Click the ‘Show Profiles’ button and press ‘Add’ for a new profile.

Enter a profile name (ECU in this example) and then click OK.
2. Select "Add a new email account" and then click Next.
3. For Server Type, choose "Microsoft Exchange Server" and click Next.

4. Enter "ecufs1.intra.ecu.edu" as the Microsoft Exchange Server. Leave checked "Use Cached Exchange Mode." Enter your pirateid and click "More Settings."

5. You will receive the error message below. Click OK.

6. This window appears. Click Check the Name and Click OK when complete.

7. The window below appears. Click the "Connection" Tab

8. Under the Connection tab, find and check the box beside "Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP" and then click on "Exchange Proxy Settings."

9. Specify Exchange Proxy Settings:

Type the URL for your Proxy Server (piratemail.ecu.edu) in the 'Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange' field.
Make sure that both ‘On fast networks...’ and ‘On slow networks...’ options are checked.
Choose ‘Basic Authentication’ as ‘Proxy Authentication settings.’
Click OK.
10. You are returned to the Connection tab. Click Apply then OK.

11. You are returned to the E-mail Accounts screen. Click “Check Name”

12. Your Pirate ID changes to your name (pirateid to Pirate, ID in this example). Click "Next."

13. Click "Finish."

14. Click OK in the Mail window (shown below).

15. Start Outlook:

When prompted to Choose a Profile, Click OK. If this is the only Outlook profile you will be using on this computer, set Outlook to always use this profile. [Start > Control Panel > Mail.
Click the ‘Show Profiles’ button.
Select "Always use this profile" and click OK.]
16. Log On

Note that Outlook has identified which mail server you use (ecufs3 in this example) despite your having earlier entered a different sever.
