Who may use Announce?

Announce is for ECU faculty and staff only via their Exchange e-mail account.

How do I get on Announce?

  1.  Address an e-mail to: listserv@listserv.ecu.edu  
  2.  No subject or signature file.  
  3.  Type the message: SUBSCRIBE announce Firstname Lastname  
  4.  Replace Firstname and Lastname with your name.  
  5.  Send the e-mail.

How long does it take to get access?

The Announce list is NOT an automatic subscription list. The subscription request is forwarded to the list owner. He/She then approves the request or let's the person know why it was not approved. This process usually takes one or two WORKING days!

How do I post a message to the list?

Address an e-mail to: announce@listserv.ecu.edu

  1.  Type the message to be distributed to the list.  
  2.  Send the message.
How do I get off Announce?
  1.  Address an e-mail to: listserv@listserv.ecu.edu  
  2.  No subject or signature file.  
  3.  Type the message: SIGNOFF announce  
  4.  Send the e-mail.

Why is my message being rejected?

You must be subscribed to the list with the e-mail account to be used to post the message.
ListServ recognizes a user by his/her e-mail address. ListServ has no way of "knowing"
you by another e-mail account.

How do I turn off receipt of Announce mail?

  1.  Address an e-mail to: listserv@listserv.ecu.edu  
  2.  No subject or signature file.  
  3.  Type the message: SET announce NOMAIL  
  4.  Send the e-mail.
How do I read Announce messages without subscribing to the list?
  1.  Start Microsoft Exchange or Outlook. 
  2.  In the folder list, select Public Folders. 
  3.  Then select All Public Folders. 
  4.  Open the Announce folder.
When a message is posted to Announce, by default, the postee is sent a message saying it was processed. To get a copy of the e-mail in it's entirety do the following:
  1.  Address an e-mail to: listserv@listserv.ecu.edu
  2.  No subject or signature file.
  3.  Type the message: SET announce REPRO
  4.  Send the e-mail.
