East Carolina University decided to use a modified version of Train the Trainer methodology to educate the large number of end users that will require training. What is Train the Trainer methodology? Well, it means that SCT Consultants train a core team of Functional and Technical Leads in each application, who then share that knowledge with other departmental subject matter experts. Some of the aforementioned groups will be selected to identify and develop the new procedures and training materials that will be used to instruct the end user community. They will be ECU's very own subject matter experts and will be valuable resources for Banner questions before and after the implementation of each application.
Training will consist of various types: Self Service Banner (SSB) and Internet Native Banner (INB). The majority of users will use Self Service Banner while Power Users will use both Self Service Banner and Internet Native Banner.
There will be instructor led classes for both SSB and INB as well as classes on initiating Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAF), Approving EPAFs, reporting, etc. However, the instructor led classes will not start until approximately 2 months before the targeted "Go Live" date for each application. In the meantime, you can become familiar with Banner by looking at the general documentation regarding the basics of Banner. The documents are available under the link "Banner Documentation" on the left side of the screen.
For Power Users, who will be using INB in addition to SSB , there is an SCT Banner Fundamentals Computer Based Tutorial (CBT) that can be used, in addition to the documentation, to help familiarize you with the fundamentals of Banner. Although the tutorial is on Banner version 6, the terminology and navigation is the same, only the look is different.
