FAQ'S ABOUT ECU'S E-MAIL VAULTING PROJECT
1. Why don't I see e-mail vaulting icons in Entourage or Safari?
Mac OS 10.x/Entourage 11.2 or later - Basic functionality that allows access to vaulted items only. EV icons are not visible. Vaulted attachments are displayed as URLs in message.

2. How do I search the e-mail vault for archived e-mails?
First, it is important that you check your network settings and verify that “intra.ecu.edu” is included in the Search Domains.
To do this:
- Under the blue apple in the top left of your display, click System Preferences.
- Click Network.
- Double click Built-in Ethernet if details are not already visible.

- In the TCP/IP settings for both Built-in Ethernet and AirPort, be sure the search domains include "intra.ecu.edu".
Next, to search for archived e-mails via the Web:
- Open Safari and go to http://vault.ecu.edu.
- Click Search.
- Modify the search fields according to the e-mail for which you are searching.
- Click Search; your results will be displayed.
Note: The search function is the only supported Mac function through the e-mail vault Web access. You may have the option of clicking the other icons, but consistent results are not guaranteed.
3. How do I open an archived message?
- Open Entourage.
- Open the archived message you'd like to view. A link will be displayed.

- If your default Web browser is Safari, click the link and enter your PirateID and passphrase.
If your default Web browser is not Safari, you will need to copy and paste links from your archived messages into Safari to view the full messages.
- Once you log in, the full e-mail message will be displayed.
4. How do I change my default browser so that all of my archived messages automatically open in Safari?
- Open Safari.
- Go to the Safari > Preferences… menu.

- In the General preferences window, check the Default Web Browser menu. Whichever browser is shown is the browser that will open when you click Web links.
- To change your browser, click on the menu bar and select another browser.

5. How do I restore archived e-mail messages?
First, you will need to know which server your e-mail is on to restore a message. Use the information in the table below to determine your e-mail server:

- Open an archived message.
- Click the Settings icon (top right of message, middle).

- In the Microsoft Exchange Server field, enter the server name and number from above, then enter your PirateID in the Mailbox field. Click Check Name button. If all information is resolved, click OK.

Next, to restore an archived message:
- Open the message you’d like to restore in Safari.
- Click the Restore icon. Click OK.
- Return to Entourage and check your Restored Items for the message. If it is not there, click Send/Receive. If the message is still not restored, close and re-open Entourage.
6. I'm having trouble logging into "https://vault.ecu.edu". What am I doing wrong?
When logging into "https://vault.ecu.edu", you may need to enter "intra\" (without the quotes) before your PirateID.
