  • U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is a primarily consumer-focused website that will help guide a consumer through the many facets of home buying and ownership.
  • Federal Housing Administration is a consumer-oriented site that offers information for home buyers and owners, and help for those affected by natural disasters and financial distress.
  • National Association of Realtors is a complete resource for consumers, realtors, and brokers covering the latest in real estate law and practice and advice for buyers and sellers.
  • North Carolina Association of Realtors is primarily meant for members, however links for consumers are available to the public as well as market statistics and trends.
  • North Carolina Real Estate Commission offers resources for realtors and those thinking about seeking a license.  The NCREC publishes many brochures primarily aimed at the consumer that can be downloaded or obtained for little or no cost from this website.
  • Greenville-Pitt Association of Realtors is Greenville's local Realtor's Association. The limited non-member areas include links to areas important to citizens and business members of the local community.
  • National Association of Home Builders is a site geared for home builders and consumers. The public area of the site offers publications and advice for building your own home, floor plans, building materials, trends (green homes), maintenance, financing, and marketing.
  • American Society of Home Inspectors is a site for and about home inspectors. This site helps educate the consumer on home inspection and finding an appropriate inspector.
  • Real Estate Journal is a site affiliated with the Wall Street Journal that offers access to many articles related to home buying, ownership (such as decor and landscaping), and investing. Resources for those interested in personal and commercial property is available.
  • Marketwatch Real Estate offers advice and links to preserving home value, real estate investing, best places to live, and trends in housing and real estate.
  • Forbes Real Estate offers stories on recent trends and subjects of current interest in real estate. An archive gives access to past stories.
  • MSN Real Estate offers advice for consumers including renters and owners of rentals. A unique feature of this site is a set of message boards. The site provides links to information about buying/selling, insurance, landscaping, staging (preparing) a house for sale, and financing.
  • Home and Garden is primarily consumer-focused, giving advice on buying, selling, recent trends, investing, vacation home ownership, and upgrading.
  • Real Estate Developer offers articles on real estate development and recent advancements in the industry, particularly in commercial real estate. Links are provided to architectural sites, HVAC and electrical sites, building materials, software, legal, rental, and financing sites.
  • NeighborhoodScout® compiles neighborhood information from many reliable sources into a searchable neighborhood research tool for all the U.S. Users can select criteria and instantly see neighborhood demographics, house values, appreciation rates, real estate information, crime rates, school ratings, and more. This password-protected service is provided free of charge to East Carolina University.
  • Yahoo Neighborhood Profiles is a forward searchable database based on zip code, providing data on cost of living, quality of life, and general demographics. Links for finding homes, realtors, and lenders are also available from this site.
  • My Dog Tess is one of several flat-fee or reduced-commission websites for buyers and sellers. This website specializes in the North Carolina markets.
  • House Hunter is a limited brokerage franchise. Their website is aimed at the more savvy buyers and sellers who feel comfortable doing much of the research themselves.
  • For Sale By Owner is a website primarily for buyers and sellers to find each other without going through a realtor. Links to appraisers, inspectors, lenders, movers, warranties, and legal information and tips for buyers and sellers is also available to help consumers get through the real estate process smoothly.
  • Zillow is a unique resource for buyers and sellers. It uses many sources of public information to give an estimate for the value of nearly every home, whether it has sold recently, and basic data on the home features.
  • Codes of Ethics for those involved in real estate transactions are provided by the Illinois Institute of Technology. This site gives the codes of ethics for appraisers, inspectors, and realtors.
  • A real estate glossary is provided, giving a comprehensive list of terms used by realtors and others in the real estate industry. These plain English definitions clarify terms for consumers and professionals.
