2008 – 2009 EXECUTIVE PLATFORM
Ø STUDENT WELFARE
Health Awareness
· Collaborate with Campus Recreation and Wellness to promote healthy lifestyle on campus through passport events. (Success for Life, etc.)
· Continue to work with Student Health Services on hard waiver insurance proposal
· Publicize health services offered to students through various media
Academic Affairs
· Serve on academic committees dealing with Grade Appeal and Plus/Minus Grading Scale
· Implement academic incentives for students through collaboration with Departmental Chairs/Professors within each College
· Develop Student Appreciation Days throughout the year to stress the importance of students at East Carolina University
· Collaborate with COAD instructors regarding student involvement in campus organizations.
Student Affairs
· Assist with freshman welcome events
· Execute impactful student voicing sessions between the student body and SGA
· Continue to work with ECU Alumni Center and other university entities to incorporate alumni into campus activities
· Support Parents Council initiatives
· Increase communication to the student body with various media outlets; TEC, Pirate Mail, SGA Blog, RHA, ECU Home page
· Begin visiting each ECU organization once a semester to establish better working relations as well as promoting what SGA has to offer
Ø SAFETY & SECURITY
· Assist with Annual Safety Walk and complete a follow-up report
· Serve on university safety committees and advocate for increased safety on campus
· Collaborate with Neighborhood Relations Office and City Council
· Publicize existing campus safety opportunities and continue to enhance current programs
Ø UNIVERSITY TO COMMUNITY RELATIONS
· Promote volunteerism for students through participation in Service North Carolina
· Assist in relief efforts and volunteer events
· Explore and propose programs that continue the Go Green Initiative on campus and around the community
· Attend Neighborhood Coalition meetings and City Council meetings
Ø STUDENT GOVERNMENT REFORM
· Foster a positive student government image through collaboration of all three SGA branches by being visible, accessible, and accountable
· Establish a more user friendly, up-to-date website
· Increase involvement by actively recruiting & training students for leadership positions
Formal Reports will be submitted to the Student Body President and the
Student Congress in November 2008and March 2008.
